BOLIVAR, Mo. – The Southwest Baptist University Accounting Department reports a record number of graduates passing the computer-based CPA (Certified Public Accountant) Exam for the 16-month period ending August, 2010. Ten SBU Accounting Alumni completed the rigorous four-part, 15-hour examination.
“We are very proud of these graduates achieving this great career milestone,” said Wayne Clark, Chair of the SBU Accounting Department. “The CPA Exam is one of the toughest professional certification exams, and these students have taken their SBU Accounting degree to the next level with this success.”
The national average for passing a single part of the CPA exam on the first attempt is 48.6%. These ten SBU accounting graduates passed exam parts the first time at an 81.6% rate. Since the CPA exam became computer based in 2004, SBU accounting graduates have a first-time pass rate of 62%.
