SBU Spring Chorale Concert Presented on April 19

BOLIVAR, Mo. – The Chorale of Southwest Baptist University will present its Spring Concert on Monday, April 19, at 7:30 p.m. in Pike Auditorium on the Bolivar campus. Admission is free and a reception for the audience will be held backstage following the concert.
The repertoire for the evening includes repertoire by Dan Forrest, Samuel Barber, Greg Jasperse, and other contemporary composers. Prominently featured will be Forrest’s “Nocturnes” for mixed choir and percussion ensemble. The Chorale is accompanied by Mr. Brandon Burns.
The Chorale is a selectively auditioned mixed choir whose repertoire regularly spans over 500 years of music history. The choir has performed extensively throughout the country and the world. The Chorale recently returned to Europe for a 9-day performance tour of Austria and Prague. The ensemble has presented performances this year at the Missouri Baptist Convention meeting in Kansas City as well as fall appearances in the St. Louis area. The choir is under the direction of Dr. James Tarrant, director of choral studies and professor of music.
