SBU Student receives LEAP’s student of the month award

BOLIVAR, Mo. – Kristen Eagon was nominated as the Lead and Enhance the Accounting Professional (LEAP) student of the month for July. Eagon was nominated by her professors at Southwest Baptist University for her academic achievements and outstanding leadership qualities.

Eagon is part of SBU’s honors program, graduating in four years with the required 150 hours to sit for the Certified Public Accountant exam. Eagon is involved in SBU’s Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE); she has served as president, secretary, and Dollar & Sense project leader. She was also an Ambassador for the SBU president’s office.

Eagon has been awarded two prestigious scholarships including one from the American Society of Women Accountant’s, Springfield, Mo., chapter, and the second from the National Society of Women Accountants. Only ten scholarships were awarded on the national level.

Eagon was an accountant intern at Cerner Corporation in Kansas City, Mo., this summer.  She was also invited to participate in the summer 2011 Pathway Program, which is sponsored by McGladery and Pullen. She will begin the CPA exam in April 2012 before graduating in May 2012.
