SBU Hosts New Steinway Concert Grand Piano Recital

BOLIVAR, Mo. – Southwest Baptist University’s Associate Professor of Music Dr. Melinda Smashey-Jones will present a faculty piano recital at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, October 14, in the Meyer Recital Hall in the Casebolt Music Center on the campus of Southwest Baptist University.

The featured work is Charles Ives’ Piano Sonata No. 2 (the “Concord” Sonata), one of the landmarks of twentieth-century piano music. The recital celebrates the new Steinway Concert Grand Piano recently purchased by the University. The recital is free of charge and the public is invited.
