SBU to Host Author Dr. Jeanne Murray Walker

BOLIVAR, Mo.SBU will host award-winning poet, essayist, editor, and playwright Dr. Jeanne Murray Walker in a reading and discussion of her work followed by a book signing. The event will take place on Thursday, September 22, from 6:00-7:00 p.m. at the Davis-Newport Theater in Jester Leaning & Performance Center. Admission is free and open to the public.

Dr. Jeanne Murray Walker, poet, playwright, and teacher, is the author of seven books of poetry including
 A Deed to the Light; and New Tracks, Night Falling.  Her poetry and essays have appeared in numerous journals, including The Atlantic Monthly, Best American Poetry, The American Poetry Review, and Christian Century. Her plays have been performed in theaters across the United States and in London.

She has been awarded several fellowships for her writing, including a National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship. Dr. Walker has appeared on PBS television and has given readings in such places as The Library of Congress and Oxford University in England.
