SBU Jazz Ensemble in concert April
16
BOLIVAR, Mo. – The SBU Jazz Ensemble will be featured in concert under the direction of Dr. Jeffery Waters at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 16, in Pike Auditorium on the SBU campus.
The
16-piece Jazz Ensemble is the premiere ensemble on campus dedicated to the
exclusive study of jazz music and will feature SBU student performers in a
program that includes the wide variety of styles associated with today’s
big-band jazz ensemble.
The program
includes the lively “Choo Choo Ch’Boogie” from the ’40s; a medley of Henry Mancini’s
music from the ’50s and ’60s (“Peter Gunn,” “Baby Elephant Walk” and “Pink
Panther,” among others); and a number of more contemporary works such as Neil
Slater’s “Side Effects” and Craig Skeffington’s “Using the Force.”
Admission
is free, and the public is invited. For more information, contact Dr. Jeffrey
