SBU Dean and Professor of Physical Education Honored

BOLIVAR, Mo. Southwest Baptist University Professor of Physical Education, Dr. Linda Wooderson was honored with the Robert M. Taylor Professional Service Honor Award at the Missouri Association for Health Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance (MOAHPERD) Conference November 11-13 in Lake Ozark, Mo. Dr. Wooderson is the acting chair of health, education and recreation and dean of the college of education and social sciences.

This award is presented annually to the top outstanding teachers and administrators in physical education, health, recreation, and dance who have served the Association. The mission statement of the MOAHPERD is to support, encourage, and provide assistance to promote programs in health, leisure, and movement related activities for the enrichment of human life.

Dr. Wooderson was awarded for her effort in connecting the MOAHPERD membership (faculty of all Missouri institutions, public and private, in physical education) with the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) to improve Praxis scores across the state in physical education. 

The theme of the conference was, “Building on the Past, Shaping the Future.” Three students from SBU also attended the conference; Lindsay Carter, Keeshia Deshields, and Debbie Easter.
