BOLIVAR, Mo. – The Southwest Baptist University Speech and Debate Team competed Nov. 20-21 at the Bowling Green tournament in Ohio and tied for fifth place in debate sweepstakes. This put the SBU team in front of tough competitors from McNeese State University, the University of Notre Dame, and the University of Cincinnati.

According to Director of Forensics Dr. David Bailey, “The Bowling Green tournament was a chance for the young team to get away from their traditional circuit and test their mettle against other schools from across the nation.”

Highlights included:

Jordan Hart finished in second place in International Public Debate, third place in Communication Analysis, fourth place in Editorial Impromptu, and fifth place in Persuasion

Chelsea Turner placed fifth place in Informative Speaking.
