SBU Awards High School Bands During Homecoming

BOLIVAR, Mo. – Southwest Baptist University recently held its annual Homecoming Parade in which several local high school bands participated. Parade bands were judged on music, marching, auxiliary groups, drumline, and drum major.  At the conclusion of the parade, the bands heard a mini-concert by the SBU Jazz Ensemble during the awards ceremony in Pike Auditorium. 

The following awards were presented:  Class 1 First Place, Wheaton High School Band, Michael Robbins, director; Class 3 Second Place, El Dorado Springs High School, Ken Eberhart, director; Class 3 First Place, Strafford High School, Shane Harmon, director; Best Auxiliary Group, Strafford; Best Drum Major, Strafford; Best Drumline, Strafford; and Oustanding Band of the Day, Strafford. 

The Bolivar High School Liberator Pride Marching Band, directed by Steve McClard and John Trew, also marched in the parade as the hometown host band, and not in competition.
