Focus on the Family
marriage specialist to speak at SBU March 11
BOLIVAR, Mo. — Jackson Dunn,
director of marriage and family formation at Focus on the Family, will speak at
Southwest Baptist University Monday, March 11. He will speak during the 10 a.m.
chapel service in Mabee Chapel and at 7 p.m. in Meyer Recital Hall in the
Casebolt Music Building on SBU’s Bolivar campus.
"I'm
really excited to be on campus at SBU with the wonderful students, staff
and faculty that make it such an amazing place,” Dunn said. “I think we all
know that healthy relationships are important and can either bring fun and
enjoyment to our lives or make us miserable. I'm looking forward
to diving into some practical ways that we can build and
strengthen the relationships we have with our friends and loved
ones."
At
Focus on the Family, Dunn oversees the programs, strategies and initiatives of
the Marriage Division, seeking to provide resources for couples preparing for
marriage, to enrich the lives of married couples and to help couples in crisis.
He
was formerly the director of University Ministries at the Center for
Relationship Enrichment on the campus of John Brown University. In this
position, he taught relationships courses, oversaw a national student
assessment, directed a national couples retreat program and helped develop a
community premarital and marriage program.
He
has spoken internationally providing marriage enrichment for the U.S. military
and leads retreats and seminars for churches and universities. He also has
worked with businesses and corporations helping them better understand the
impact and importance of the relational and emotional health of employees as
well as the impact of healthy families and marriages on the workplace.
The Crabtree Lectures are made
possible because of an endowment given by retired Springfield pastor Dr. T.T.
Crabtree in honor of his wife. The purpose for the lecture series is to help
college students in developing strong human relationships in marriage and
family life.
“The
Bennie Cole Crabtree Lecture series began in the fall of 1988 and is a
consistent source of relationship information and inspiration for our
students,” said Bill
Walkup, assistant professor of behavioral sciences.
